This is sometimes one of the hottest months of the year and is always a time to go and sit outside enjoying the sun! Make sure you keep your plants looking good! You can do this by regularly dead-heading, and therefore you will be able to enjoy a longer lasting display of blooms! Ensure that you keep new plants well watered, using grey water where possible, and hoe off weeds, which thrive in the sunshine..unfortunatley!
Check clematis for signs of clematis wilt as it can sometimes not be easily seen
Place conservatory plants outside now that it is warm so that they can soak up the sum rays
Remember to water tubs and new plants if dry, but be water-wise and use your water butt
Deadhead bedding plants and repeat-flowering perennials, to ensure continuous flowering
Pick courgettes before they become marrows to ensure you get your courgette!
Treat apple scab to make sure that your apples stay edible
Clear algae, blanket weeds and debris from ponds, and keep them topped up and clean
Give the lawn a quick-acting summer feed, especially if not given a spring feed to make sure it is healthy
Give woodwork a lick of paint or preserver, while the weather is dry so that it stays clean and doesn't rot!
Did I forget to mention we stock big trees, shrubs and a range of beautiful flowers in our nursery? Yes? Well, we do! And we are open Monday - Friday 9am-4pm and Staurday 9am-12pm! So why not come and have a look?
