We, at Landscape Plants, have been waiting to say this all year… it’s summer (almost)! As the longest day of the year is in June, it is important to remember extra sunlight and warmth encourages bursts of growth in your garden. However, that means weeds!
Here are our Top 10 tips for controlling your garden this month:
Regally hoe boarders to keep down weeds.
Water your plants – especially in drought-affected areas.
Pinch side shoots on tomatoes.
As well as other salads, harvest lettuce, radish, and early potatoes.
Position summer hanging baskets and containers outside.
Mow your lawn once a week.
Plant out summer bedding.
If you have tall plants, remember to stake them.
Prune spring-flowering shrubs.
Shade greenhouses to prevent them from becoming too hot internally.
