As summer is the hottest month of the year – if we’re lucky – many of us will find ourselves outside. Here are some top tips in insuring you get the most out of your garden this summer, without your plants suffering.
Place conservatory plants outside.
Check clematis plants for signs of wilt.
Water tubs and new plants. Remember to be water wise and use recycled water when you can!
Pick courgettes before they become marrows.
To ensure continuous flowering, deadhead bedding plants and repeat-flowering perennials.
Clear algae, blanket weeds and debris from ponds.
Treat apple scab!
Give your lawn a summer feed – especially if not given a spring feed.
Order catalogues for next year’s spring-flower bulbs.
Give woodwork a quick lick of paint whilst the weather is dry. Preserver works too!
Most importantly, remember to enjoy your time in the sun!
